# BI and SQL tools

> Connect DBeaver, Tableau, and other Postgres-compatible tools to Airhouse.

Any tool with a PostgreSQL connector can connect to Airhouse. Choose the **PostgreSQL** connection type and enter your Airhouse connection parameters.

| Field | Value |
| - | - |
| Host | Your Airhouse host |
| Port | `5445` |
| Database | Your Airhouse database name |
| Username / password | Your Airhouse credentials |
| SSL | Required when the server has TLS enabled |

## DBeaver

1. Select **Database > New Database Connection** and choose **PostgreSQL**.
2. Enter the host, port `5445`, database, username, and password.
3. Select **Test Connection**, then **Finish**.

Your tables appear under the `lake` catalog, in the `main` schema unless you created others.

## Tableau

1. Under **Connect > To a Server**, choose **PostgreSQL**.
2. Enter the server, port `5445`, database, username, and password. Check **Require SSL** if your server has TLS enabled.
3. Select **Sign In**, then pick tables from the `main` schema.

## Other tools

Tools that browse schemas read Postgres system catalogs such as `pg_catalog.pg_class` and `pg_catalog.pg_namespace`. Airhouse answers these introspection queries from DuckDB's `information_schema`, so table and schema browsers work in most tools. If a tool's schema browser shows nothing, you can still run SQL directly, and `information_schema.tables` and `information_schema.columns` list everything in your database.

<Tip>
Give dashboards and BI tools a user with the `reader` role. They can query everything but can't change data. See [Users, roles, and security](../guides/users-and-roles).
